Speech and Language Pathology provides screening, assessment, and treatment for disorders of speech, language, swallowing, and cognition. Speech therapy focuses on regaining and/or compensating for lost skills to improve quality of life for more effective communication and diet enjoyment. Our speech therapy professionals work with our elders to resolve communication, memory and eating and swallowing problems. Therapists establish effective ways for the elders to have their needs and wants communicated. They also help resolve swallowing difficulties such as dysphagia. When memory is affected by illness, the speech therapists assist with compensatory techniques to help improve independence.
